Default Anet - please let us know when trading is "All Clear"

Anet,
I do very little trading - mostly just merchanting but the horror threads are making even me just a little bit scared of doing anything.

I mean someone is being reported as being banned for trading 34 linen!

I know you've said it should be obvious and not recieve "stolen goods" aka duped goods but it's not always obvious I'm afraid.

Anet - Please come out with an offical "All Clear" statement in some shape or form so that we can resume trading without having to wonder stupid things like "will buying 250 bone ban my account!!! oh noes!"

I suggest that the statement/post should cover the problem tackled, actions taken and confirm that all actions taken are now ok and you consider the problem closed.

This would allow everyone who has in no way been involved with any shady activity to breathe a sign of relief and resume trading normally.

If anyone agree's and would like to sign this petition request please do so below to keep it high on the forum page.

This is why all these scaremongering threads need closing on sight.

Most players have traded all the way through the dupe wars and continue to trade with no bans.

I think most of the player base is overdoing this. Unless some guy/gal comes up to you and hints he might be pawning illicit stuff cheap, you'll be alright. So long as there is no reasonable justification for a ban (Buying 20 Ecto at 1k ea), you'll be okay. If you haven't been doing anything wrong, why worry?

Hey, all,

Yes, trading is just fine, now. We had several people working on the account investigations, but at this point we feel that the matter has been fully dealt with, and legitimate trading should be A-Ok.

Now, if someone sidles up to you in a dark alleyway and offers you an armbrace for the bargain basement price of 44 gold pieces, you might way to run in the opposite direction.

But seriously, unless we find another account that was involved in the actual duping, in the receipt of ridiculous amounts of items, or that was engaged in clearly bogus "trades," trading for items of all kinds is good to go now.

Would receiving free items from friends and guildmates fall under legitimate trading?

so if my guild member offers me a rare item for cheap price significaly cheap price i will be a suspect?
For example a bone dragon for 20K?
will this be suspicious even if the trade is pure with nothing else involved?

thanks for the clarifications, but now all the community need the restore of reconnect option, just because some of us ( me too ) have bad internet connections and it's just impossible to do any big adventure, like more than 1 hour.

many many thanks

despite what Gaile says, people are still getting banned, for accepting or trading for items much smaller in number and value than armbraces.

It's definitely not fine to trade with strangers right now.

Uh oh, I hope my guildmate doesn't get banned. He is a good friend of mine in RL and was just getting into the game so I gave him 250 Tanned Hides, 8 Steel Ingots, and 5k to help him get his armor. All for free... that would not be fair to him to get banned for something as trivial as that. Hopefully this whole duping incident does not stop people from trading.

yes loviatar......but if a person can't buy a measley 39 tokens (net value a few hundred gold or so) without having to worry about if they were duped or not, what is safe?

that's the point.

they did not buy them

they were duped

the 549 non duped free ones were not even noticed

it specified in the support unlock message it was a zero return value transaction involving duped content.

what they did was lock down everything involved with duping (notice that the other 549 free unduped tokens were not mentioned) and keeping most of the duped high value items under lock.

now they are sorting out the innocent which did not even miss the festival
